Seeking to win a record-extending sixth star, Tite announced Monday his Brazil squad that will play in the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ahead of the November 13 deadline, the 26-strong lineup of the world’s number-one team had surprising inclusions and notable omissions, with their attacking line being one of the strongest in recent memory.

Headlining the front row is Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar for his third World Cup appearance, with Tottenham’s Richarlison being on a fine international form (seven goals in the last six games) and the Real Madrid duo of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo with the latter trio being called to their maiden World Cup alongside Manchester United’s Antony.

Perhaps the biggest snubs in the selection came from the forward line, with Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus cruelly snubbed with the latter’s Arsenal teammate Gabriel Martinelli preferred despite the Olympic champion only having three senior caps.

The goalkeeping trio is set in stone with first-choice Alisson Becker of Liverpool and Manchester City’s Ederson being the close second-string, with former Olympic champion Weverton being the third in line.

United’s pair of Casemiro and Fred lead the midfield corps, as Dani Alves makes a surprise inclusion, with the 39-year-old from Mexican side Pumas joining the backline alongside Thiago Silva as the defensive duo are included for the fourth World Cup.

The Seleção are in Group G with Serbia, in which they will open their campaign on November 24, with Switzerland and Cameroon soon afterward.
